Shenango Rec Area Campground

About

Located in the broad valleys of the Shenango River and Pymatuning Creek in northwestern Pennsylvania, Shenango Recreation Area Campground offers lakeside camping on an 11,000-acre reservoir. The campground contains over 330 sites spread across several loops including the Golden Loop, Lake Loop, and others. Many sites feature 30-amp electric hookups with gravel pads accommodating RVs up to 56 feet. Sites are back-in style with shade trees throughout. The campground provides full amenities including flush toilets, hot showers, potable water, and an RV dump station. Fire rings are available at sites and campfires are permitted. The area is surrounded by northern hardwood forest featuring Black Cherry, Beech, Maple, and Hemlock trees, with wildlife including deer, turkey, osprey, and eagles. Shenango River Lake is an unlimited horsepower lake with six free boat launches, making it popular for boating and fishing. Anglers pursue bass, walleye, muskellunge, and panfish. The nearby Chestnut Run Swim Beach is 3 miles away, and the Coonie Trail offers a half-mile interpretive nature walk. The Bayview Off-Road Vehicle Area is 3.5 miles away for ATV and dirt bike riding.

Directions

Take Exit 4B off I-80 and follow Route 18 north about 6 miles until you cross the lake's causeway. Continue north about 1/4 mile, take the Birchwood Drive exit, make the turn-around and go south on Route 18. Before crossing the causeway again, turn right onto West Lake Road and travel approximately 1/4 mile to the park entrance on the left.
