About

Jennings Environmental Education Center is a 334-acre Pennsylvania state park in Brady Township, Butler County, located 12 miles north of Butler at the intersection of PA Routes 8 and 528. Established as the first reserve in Pennsylvania to protect an individual plant species, the center preserves a 20-acre relict prairie ecosystem containing distinctive prairie plants, most notably the blazing star. The prairie is also habitat for the endangered massasauga rattlesnake. The center is dedicated to environmental education and interpretation, offering a variety of programs for children, teachers, and the general public. Organized groups can schedule inquiry-based outdoor education programs by contacting the park. Facilities include hiking trails, self-guided interpretive walks, restrooms, drinking water, and picnic areas. The Prairie Picnic Pavilion seats 50 people and may be reserved for day use. This is a day-use facility only. There are no overnight camping options including tent sites, RV sites, cabins, or yurts. The grounds are open daily from sunrise to sunset, year-round. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and some weekends.
