Moraine Campground

About

Moraine Campground sits in the heart of Kings Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in North America, along the South Fork of the Kings River. The campground offers 121 sites nestled beneath ponderosa pine and incense cedar at 4,600 feet elevation. Each site includes a fire ring, picnic table, and bear-proof food storage box, with paved roads throughout for easier vehicle access. Five comfort stations provide flush toilets, sinks for dishwashing, and drinking water. Cedar Grove Village is just 0.75 miles away, offering showers, laundry, a market, snack bar, and lodge accommodations. The area provides excellent hiking to Mist Falls, Zumwalt Meadow, and Cedar Grove Overlook, plus fishing in the Kings River and horseback riding through Cedar Grove Pack Station. Black bears are active in the campground. All food and scented items must be stored in the provided bear boxes. Pets are allowed on leash (6 feet max) but are prohibited on trails.

Directions

From Fresno, follow Highway 180 East to Cedar Grove. Moraine Campground is on the left (north) side of the road, 0.75 miles east of Cedar Grove Village. Vehicles over 22 feet should use the Kings Canyon National Park entrance, not the route through Sequoia National Park.
