About
Upper Stillwater Lake Campground is a quiet, primitive campground situated on the shores of Stillwater Lake in Montana's Flathead National Forest. The campground features 5 designated campsites bordered by the Stillwater River, making it an excellent base for fishing, boating, and exploring the surrounding wilderness. A gravel boat launch provides access to the lake for motorized and non-motorized watercraft. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system or fees required. Amenities are basic: vault toilets and picnic tables are provided, but campers must bring their own drinking water. The 16-day stay limit and quiet hours from 10 PM to 6 AM help maintain a peaceful atmosphere. Horse and pack animals are permitted at this site. The campground is open year-round but the access road is not plowed in winter. Vehicle access is typically available from May through November, while winter visitors can reach the site via snowmobile or snowshoes.
