About
Jaycee Park Campground is a primitive BLM-managed facility tucked into the Colorado River canyon along Highway 279, approximately 4 miles west of Moab. The campground's location near the renowned Wall Street climbing area makes it a favorite among climbers, while the nearby Portal Hiking Trailhead offers hikers access to stunning overlooks of the Moab Valley and La Sal Mountains. The campground features 7 walk-in tent sites set among shaded cottonwoods along the river corridor. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table. A vault toilet and trash dumpster are provided, but there is no potable water. Campers must carry gear from the parking area to their site, with distances ranging from just a few steps to roughly 100 feet. This is a tent-only campground with no accommodations for RVs, trailers, or large vehicles. Sites operate first-come, first-served with no reservations accepted. The nightly fee is $20, payable at the self-service station, with stays limited to 14 nights within any 30-day period.
Directions
From the center of Moab at Center St. and Main St., head north to Highway 279, just south of the Arches National Park entrance. Turn left (west) on Highway 279 and drive 4 miles. The campground is on the right.
