About

Monson Lake Campground is one of Minnesota's quieter state park campgrounds, featuring just 20 campsites in a 346-acre park with diverse wetlands and hardwood forests. The campground offers six electric sites with 20, 30, and 50-amp service, and 14 non-electric sites. Most sites are wooded and shady, with some offering limited lake views. The campground serves as a base for exploring Monson Lake, a 152-acre glacial lake known for excellent fishing opportunities including walleye, northern pike, largemouth bass, and panfish. The park is particularly popular with birdwatchers, who come to observe white pelicans, herons, western grebes, and numerous songbird species. A fishing pier and boat launch provide water access, and a short portage connects Monson Lake to nearby West Sunburg Lake for paddlers. The campground includes approximately 1.2 miles of hiking trails along the wooded lakeshore. This seasonally-staffed park is managed from nearby Sibley State Park and operates during the summer season.
