About

Glacial Lakes State Park preserves one of Minnesota's finest examples of glacially-carved prairie landscape in Pope County near Starbuck. The Lower Campground occupies a scenic ridge atop an esker, a winding ridge of glacial sediment, surrounded by tall shade trees that provide welcome relief on summer days. The campground offers 19 drive-in sites, with 14 featuring 50-amp electric service and five rustic non-electric sites. An accessible shower building with flush toilets operates seasonally, and campers have access to a dump station. Two fishing docks sit just down the hill on Signalness Lake (also called Mountain Lake), making this an excellent base for anglers. Camp hosts are on-site to answer questions and sell firewood. Beyond camping, the park features swimming beaches, hiking trails through rolling prairie and oak savanna, and opportunities to spot wildlife including white-tailed deer and numerous bird species. Two camper cabins are also located within the Lower Campground area for those seeking a bit more shelter.
