Oak Ridge Campground occupies a scenic elevated position atop an esker formation at Glacial Lakes State Park, surrounded by oak trees in an area where prairie and central hardwood forests converge. The campground features 18 campsites and provides access to the park's extensive trail system, including the popular High Peak Trail which offers excellent vistas of Mountain and Baby Lakes and the surrounding native prairie landscape. The campground is strategically located just 0.2 miles from a fishing dock on 56-acre Signalness Lake, which has its entire watershed within the park, ensuring clear waters for fishing and recreation. While sites are relatively close together with moderate tree cover, the location provides convenient access to the park's diverse recreational opportunities throughout all four seasons. Winter camping is particularly popular at Oak Ridge, with direct access to snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling trails. The park preserves rare remnants of Minnesota's original prairie landscape, which once covered much of the state, offering visitors a unique glimpse into the region's glacial history and native ecosystems.

Directions

From Starbuck, Minnesota, head south on County Road 41 for approximately 5 miles to reach Glacial Lakes State Park. Once inside the park, follow the signs to Oak Ridge Campground, located on the northern side of the park. The campground is situated atop an esker and is accessible via the park's main road.
