About

Mokins Bay Campground is located near the eastern shore of Hayden Lake in northwest Idaho, within the Coeur d'Alene Mountains portion of the Bitterroot Range. The 15-site campground provides a quiet, forested retreat surrounded by a heavy canopy of pines. Wildflowers like trillium and buttercups thrive in springtime. Hayden Lake features a 40-mile shoreline and 3,800-acre surface area, formed by the Missoula Floods nearly 15,000 years ago. The lake is a 10-minute walk from camp. Fishing is popular in the surrounding waters, with cutthroat trout, largemouth and smallmouth bass, northern pike, and kokanee salmon among common catches. Power boating and water sports are also popular. Amenities include drinking water from a hand pump, vault toilets, grills, paved parking spurs, and a horseshoe pit. Access is via gravel road. The town of Coeur d'Alene is 21 miles away for restaurants, gas, and groceries.
