About

Located at the southern tip of Lake Pend Oreille in northern Idaho's Coeur d'Alene Mountains, Farragut State Park combines natural beauty with significant World War II history. This 4,000-acre park was once the second-largest naval training station in the world during WWII and now serves as one of Idaho's premier recreation destinations. The park features 223 individual campsites spread across four campgrounds (Gilmore, Waldron, Snowberry, and Thimbleberry), 10 camping cabins, and 7 group camps. Some campgrounds offer full hookups with electric, water, and sewer for RVs up to 60 feet. With over 40 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, visitors can explore diverse terrain and enjoy stunning lake views. The park also features disc golf courses, a radio-controlled airplane field, equestrian facilities, boat launches, swimming areas, and excellent fishing opportunities. Year-round access makes Farragut suitable for all seasons, from summer lake activities to winter sports. The Farragut Naval Training Station Museum, located in the Brig building, offers insight into the park's military heritage and operates from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Reservations are recommended, especially during the peak May through October season.
