Currently closed for camping. Thimbleberry Campground and Waldron cabins have been closed due to Highway 54 road construction. About
Farragut State Park sits on 4,000 acres at the southern end of Lake Pend Oreille in northern Idaho's panhandle. The park occupies the former grounds of Farragut Naval Training Station, which trained over 293,000 sailors during WWII and briefly served as Idaho's largest city. Today it ranks among Idaho's busiest state parks, hosting over 500,000 day-use visitors and nearly 27,000 camping reservations annually. The park's 223 individual campsites are spread across multiple campgrounds with varying levels of service. Standard sites offer no hookups, while serviced sites provide water and electric or full hookups including sewer. All major campgrounds feature shower houses with flush toilets. The 2026 addition of Peterson campground brought 20 full-hookup RV sites with pull-throughs, 10 oversized tent pads, 4 cabins, and group facilities with dining pavilions. Recreational opportunities include swimming beaches on Beaver Bay and Snowberry Beach, disc golf courses, over 30 miles of multi-use trails, an archery range, and winter cross-country ski trails. The Museum at the Brig preserves naval training station history and operates Memorial Day through Labor Day. A motor vehicle entrance fee applies year-round.
