About

Bumblebee Campground occupies a meadow setting at 2,200 feet elevation in Idaho Panhandle National Forests, adjacent to Bumblebee Creek near the Little North Fork Coeur D'Alene River. A significant wind event in winter 2021 uprooted several hundred trees, and subsequent logging to remove damaged timber has left the campground with very open, treeless conditions. The creekside location provides excellent water-based recreation. Floating, swimming, and wading are accessible directly from the campground, while trout fishing for rainbow and cutthroat is available about half a mile away in the Little North Fork. The 803 Motorized Trail System, offering dedicated off-road trails and open roads in the Steamboat Creek area, lies approximately 15 miles away. The campground operates two loops with 13 single-family sites and one group site accommodating up to 100 people. Facilities include vault toilets and hand-pumped drinking water. Roads are paved with sealed gravel parking spurs. A 14-day consecutive stay limit is strictly enforced, and bear-aware food storage protocols are mandatory.

Directions

Take the Kingston Exit off Interstate 90 and take Forest Road 9 North for 5.4 miles. Turn left onto Bumblebee cutoff and head 3 miles to the campground sign at the junction with Forest Road 796. Turn right onto Forest Road 796 and go 0.1 miles to the campground. Single sites are on the loop to the right and the group site is the loop on the left.
