About

Bell Bay Campground occupies a prime location on the southeast shores of Coeur d'Alene Lake in the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. The campground features two distinct loops: an upper loop set on a hill with sweeping lake views and a lower loop positioned on a ridge along the shoreline. Surrounded by Ponderosa and mixed pine forests, the campground offers six reservable single-family sites, additional first-come first-served sites, and a group site accommodating up to 60 guests. The lower loop provides two docks where boaters can moor their vessels, though the walk from the docks involves a short but fairly steep climb. The Bell Bay Trail, a foot path running approximately one mile around the lake shore, is popular with hikers exploring the area. Coeur d'Alene Lake spans 50 square miles and is known for its excellent fishing for trout, salmon, and panfish, as well as swimming, power boating, canoeing, and scenic vistas. The campground provides vault toilets, drinking water, and campfire rings at each site. No electric hookups are available. Campers should be aware that bears frequent the area and all food must be kept in approved containers. The town of Coeur d'Alene, located about an hour north on the opposite side of the lake, offers additional recreation options including paddle boat rentals, ferry rides, and scenic seaplane tours.

Directions

From Pinehurst, Idaho, take Interstate 90 west and turn south on Highway 3. Make a right on Highway 97 and continue north for 13 miles. Turn west onto Road 314 (also known as East Point Road) and continue 3 miles to campground.
