Riley Creek
Open for the 2026 season as of May 9. The campground operates May through September and requires reservations through Recreation.gov. Lake Pend Oreille is at normal summer levels.
About
Riley Creek Recreation Area sits on the banks of the Pend Oreille River, about 14 miles west of Sandpoint, Idaho, and is the largest of the five USACE-managed campgrounds at Albeni Falls Dam. The campground offers 67 sites, all equipped with electric and water hookups. Modern amenities include flush restrooms with hot showers, large dishwashing sinks, a dump station with potable water fill, and trash service. Water recreation is the main draw here. Two boat ramps provide access to Lake Pend Oreille, one of the largest and deepest natural lakes in the western US. Visitors can fish from dedicated piers, swim at the beach, or explore by kayak, canoe, or jet ski. On land, the campground offers a playground, amphitheater, basketball and volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, and access to a hiking and biking trail. Wildlife sightings are common, including bald eagles, osprey, deer, and occasional bears. The nearby Albeni Falls Visitor Center offers exhibits on the dam's history and free tours during summer. The town of Laclede provides basic services including gas and groceries.
