About

Mohawk Dam Campground is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and sits along the Walhonding River approximately 15 miles west of Coshocton and 25 miles east of Mount Vernon, Ohio. The campground is located below Mohawk Dam, a dry flood control dam constructed in the mid-1930s as part of the Muskingum Watershed flood control system following Ohio's devastating 1913 flood. The dam itself has no permanent pool and only fills with water during flood control operations. The Walhonding River below the dam is a popular destination for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. The campground provides basic amenities for RVers and campers looking to access the river and enjoy the rural setting along the watershed. The nearby town of Coshocton is home to Roscoe Village, a restored historic canal town that offers dining and cultural attractions. Access to the campground is via State Route 715, which crosses directly over the dam crest.

Directions

From Coshocton, take State Route 36 west for approximately 15 miles. Turn onto State Route 715, which crosses over the dam. Campground access is below the dam along the river.
