About
Located within the 4,525-acre Mohican Memorial State Forest surrounding Mohican State Park, the Group Camps & Shelters provide a primitive camping experience for organized groups. The four group campsites are arranged around a large central communal firepit, with each site also featuring its own individual fire ring and picnic tables. Amenities are intentionally minimal: three portable toilets, a well water spigot, and dumpsters serve all sites. This rustic setting is separate from the main family campground and offers a more secluded experience near the striking Clear Fork Gorge and its hemlock forests. The area provides access to over 32 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Nearby attractions include Malabar Farm State Park, Pleasant Hill Lake, and Charles Mill Lake. Day-use shelters are also available for group gatherings and can be reserved through the Ohio State Parks reservation system. The group facilities are designed for nonprofits, scout troops, church groups, and other organizations seeking an affordable outdoor experience without the amenities of developed campgrounds.
Directions
From State Route 3 in Loudonville, head south. The group camps are located at 3054 County Highway 939, Perrysville, OH 44864, within Mohican Memorial State Forest adjacent to Mohican State Park.
