About

Dillon Lake Group Picnic Shelter is a day use facility managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, located approximately six miles northwest of Zanesville and twenty miles east of Newark, Ohio. The shelter sits above Dillon Lake with panoramic views of the water, rolling hills, and forested areas. The facility features 10 accessible picnic tables, multiple barbecue grills, a large fenced-in playground, a gazebo, and a fitness trail surrounded by park benches and landscaping. The area provides access to extensive recreation opportunities on Dillon Lake and the surrounding region, including water sports, fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing. An accessible fishing pier is located below the dam, and the Ohio State Parks and Division of Wildlife manage additional facilities nearby, including boat launches, trails, and a swim beach. The shelter is available for group reservations year-round through Recreation.gov, though the shelter and playground areas are not maintained during winter months. The Corps of Engineers office is open 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, but the area remains accessible 24 hours daily.
