About

Located at Dillon State Park in Muskingum County, this dedicated equestrian campground serves horse and mule riders exploring the park's extensive trail system. The facility features 20 primitive, non-electric campsites designed specifically for equestrian camping, providing a base for riders to access 19 miles of wooded bridle trails that wind through the rolling hills and scenic valleys of east central Ohio. Some trails are multi-use, allowing hikers and mountain bikers alongside horseback riders, with clear markings indicating where certain activities are prohibited. The equestrian camp is situated separately from the main family campground, providing a quieter environment suited to horses. The campground includes basic bathroom facilities. The park's location near Zanesville offers a picturesque setting with hardwood forests and views of the 1,560-acre Dillon Lake. The area's diverse terrain, shaped by ancient Black Hand sandstone formations, creates varied riding conditions from wooded trails to reverting farmland where riders may spot white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and migrating waterfowl.

Directions

From Zanesville, Ohio, take State Route 146 north for approximately 7 miles. Turn right onto Dillon Hills Drive and follow signs to the equestrian campground.
