About
Mohican State Park Campground is nestled in the heavily forested hills of Ashland County, Ohio, where the Clear Fork of the Mohican River carves through scenic gorges and hemlock-covered slopes. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring one of Ohio's most popular outdoor recreation areas, with direct access to extensive trail systems for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
The main Class A campground features 153 sites with electric hookups and 33 sites with full-service hookups (electric, water, sewer). Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Facilities include modern shower houses with flush toilets, an RV dump station, and a camp commissary/store. A seasonal swimming pool with a main pool, kiddie area, and ADA-accessible splash pad operates during summer months. Free WiFi is available to supplement limited cell reception in the area.
Beyond the family campground, the park offers 10 remote park-and-pack backcountry sites about a mile's hike in, a group camping area with more primitive facilities, and 25 waterfront camper cabins. The adjacent Mohican Lodge and Conference Center provides additional lodging options. Weekend naturalist programs, amphitheater movies, and junior naturalist activities run from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Directions
From Loudonville, take State Route 3 south approximately 3 miles to the park entrance. The campground is also accessible via State Route 97.
