About

Located eight miles south of Lapeer in southeast Michigan, Metamora-Hadley Recreation Area Campground surrounds the scenic 80-acre Lake Minnawanna. The campground features 214 modern sites with electric hookups distributed across two distinct loops. The north loop offers several waterfront campsites with more open, grassy settings, while the south loop provides a wooded camping experience with greater privacy and shade. The park's 723 acres offer diverse recreational opportunities throughout the camping season. A designated swim beach with accessible walkway, universally accessible fishing pier, and no-wake boating access provide water-based activities on Lake Minnawanna, where anglers target bluegill, largemouth bass, and pike. The well-stocked camp store at the campground entrance offers firewood, ice, propane, camp supplies, pizza, ice cream, and equipment rentals including bikes, kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and rowboats. The beach house in the day-use area includes modern restrooms, showers, changing areas, and concessions. Six miles of trails wind through the property for hiking, and convert to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing routes in winter. Additional amenities include a picnic shelter, playground with sand volleyball and Gaga ball courts, modern toilet and shower buildings, a two-lane sanitation station, and seasonal nature programs. The campground also offers one camper cabin that sleeps six with electricity, a mini fridge, and microwave, located on a bluff overlooking the lake. Alcohol restrictions apply from April 1 through Labor Day unless authorized by permit.

Directions

From Metamora, head west on Pratt Road for approximately 2 miles, then turn south onto Herd Road. The park entrance is located at 3871 Herd Road.
