About

Located 8 miles south of Lapeer in Michigan's Metamora-Hadley State Recreation Area, this 723-acre facility surrounds scenic Lake Minnawanna and offers 214 modern campsites with 20/30-amp electrical hookups. The campground is divided into two loops: the north loop features larger, more open sites with easier maneuverability for RVs, travel trailers, and pop-up campers, while the south loop is heavily wooded with smaller, more intimate sites preferred by tent campers. The campground provides modern restroom facilities with flush toilets and hot showers, a two-lane sanitation station, and a camp store at the entrance selling firewood, ice, propane, pizza, ice cream, and camp supplies. Equipment rentals include bikes, kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and rowboats. Each site includes a fire pit and picnic table. Additional amenities include a designated swimming beach, wheelchair-accessible fishing pier, playground with sand volleyball and Gaga ball courts, and 6 miles of trails. Seasonal naturalists offer weekly nature-based programming from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The lake is popular for bluegill, largemouth bass, and pike fishing. A Michigan Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry. Reservations are strongly recommended for summer weekends and holidays.
