AQAMT The Montana Department of Environmental Quality has issued an air quality alert for Beaverhead, Broadwater, Deer Lodge, Flathead, Gallatin, Granite, Jefferson, Lake, Lewis and Clark, Lincoln, Madison, Mineral, Missoula, Park, Powell, Ravalli, Silver Bow, Sweet Grass, Sanders, Yellowstone counties in effect until 9AM on 08/11/2026 An Air Quality Alert means that particulates have been trending upwards and that an exceedance of the 24 hour National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) has occurred or may occur in the near future. Elevated particulate levels from wildfire smoke As of 7AM on 08/10/2026, particulate levels in Columbia Falls, Frenchtown, Libby and Missoula are Unhealthy. As of 7AM on 08/10/2026, particulate levels in Billings, Dillon, Great Falls, Helena and Thompson Falls are Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. About
May Creek Campground is a primitive Forest Service campground located 17 miles west of Wisdom, Montana on Highway 43 in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. The 21-site campground occupies relatively flat terrain at 6,300 feet elevation, shaded by a dense stand of lodgepole pine. May Creek flows along the west side of the campground, providing fishing opportunities. The campground offers basic amenities including ADA-accessible vault toilets and picnic tables at each site. Campers should be prepared to bring their own drinking water and pack out all trash, as these services are not provided. The maximum recommended trailer length is 30 feet. Nearby attractions include the Big Hole National Battlefield and May Creek Cabin, a historic mining cabin available for rental via Recreation.gov that can be reached by a 2-mile hike from the campground.
