About

Toad Suck Campground, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is situated on the Arkansas River near Conway and provides a shady, well-maintained camping destination for families and groups. The campground features 48 campsites with electric and water hookups, as well as five group picnic shelters. Modern amenities include hot showers, flush restrooms, multiple playgrounds, and a dump station. A boat ramp provides easy access to the Arkansas River. Situated at the eastern edge of both the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains, the area is a haven for nature enthusiasts. In springtime, dogwood, redbud, wild plum, and other native flowering trees offer breathtaking sights. Fishing is excellent year-round, and record fish catches are common in the Arkansas River, which has an abundance of bream, crappie, white bass, largemouth bass, and several species of catfish. Nearby attractions include the Cadron Blockhouse in Cadron Settlement Park, a replica of a late 18th-century structure. The town of Conway hosts the annual Toad Suck Daze Festival, featuring a toad race competition. The campground is located at the historic Toad Suck Ferry crossing, a stop along the Trail of Tears Water Route where a ferry operated from 1820 to 1971.

Directions

From Conway, Arkansas, travel west for 7 miles on SR-60 and follow signs into the campground. From Interstate 40 take exit 129B and head south on Dave Ward Drive/Hwy 286. Continue for 7.5 miles until you reach a stop sign. Turn left and continue over the bridge. Immediately after the bridge (and right before the Toad Suck One Stop) take a hard right and follow the gravel road to the right to the main gate. You will drive under the bridge and the gate is on the left.
