About

Lake Sylvia Recreation Area offers a well-developed camping experience in the scenic northeastern corner of the Ouachita National Forest. The 18-acre lake serves as the centerpiece, providing swimming at the designated beach and fishing opportunities. The campground is organized into two loops: Loop A features paved parking aprons suited for RVs up to 30 feet, while Loop B has gravel surfaces designated for tent camping. The facility includes 14 RV sites with 30-amp electric hookups, water connections, and WiFi access, plus 23 primitive tent sites. Seven camper cabins ranging from two-person units to a six-person cabin with full kitchen are available for those seeking more amenities. A central bathhouse serves campground guests, and the day-use area includes picnic sites, a playground, and a pump track. Hikers can access the Trees of the Forest interpretive trail, which features Braille signage and wheelchair accessibility, along with the Wildlife Trail and Lake Sylvia Spur Trail connecting to the Ouachita National Recreation Trail.
