About

Marion Cove Campground sits just north of Marion Reservoir Dam, adjacent to the USACE Project Office. This primitive tent camping area provides 17 non-electric sites suited for campers seeking a more rustic experience compared to the developed campgrounds elsewhere on the reservoir. Sites 1-6 include picnic shelters with tables and fire rings, while sites 7-17 are equipped with firepits only. A community water hydrant is located near site 1. A two-lane boat ramp at the campground provides convenient access to Marion Reservoir's 6,200 acres of water. The lake holds excellent populations of channel catfish, walleye, white bass, and wipers. The surrounding 6,000 acres of public lands completed in 1968 offer additional recreational opportunities. The nearby communities of Hillsboro and Marion provide restaurants, shops, and host nationally recognized arts and crafts shows. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov. Three tents or two tents and one RV are permitted per campsite. Off-road vehicles are not allowed, and firewood must be purchased locally.
