About
Marion Cove Campground is located just north of the Marion Reservoir Dam near the Project Office. As a primitive tent camping campground without electrical hookups, it offers a back-to-nature experience for campers seeking a quieter, more rustic setting on Marion Reservoir.
The campground provides convenient access to the 6,200-acre Marion Reservoir through an on-site boat ramp. Popular activities include camping, boating, and fishing. Anglers will find an abundance of channel catfish, walleye, white bass, and wipers in the reservoir waters. The surrounding 6,000 acres of public lands provide additional opportunities for outdoor recreation against the backdrop of the sparkling lake.
Completed in 1968 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Marion Reservoir serves flood control, water supply, and recreational purposes. The nearby communities of Hillsboro and Marion offer additional amenities including restaurants, shops, and nationally recognized art and craft shows for visitors looking to explore the local area.
