About

Hillsboro Cove is a quiet waterfront campground located on Marion Reservoir, conveniently situated off Highway 56 between the towns of Marion and Hillsboro in Kansas. The campground features 51 individual sites equipped with electric hookups, tables, grills, and sun shelters, plus a large group camping area with a shelter that can accommodate up to 80 people. Each individual site allows one RV and two tents, or three tents. Completed in 1968, Marion Reservoir encompasses 6,200 acres of water surrounded by 6,000 acres of public lands, creating an expansive setting for outdoor recreation. The campground is particularly popular with anglers, offering excellent fishing opportunities for Channel Catfish, Walleye, White Bass, Wipers, and White Crappie. A boat ramp is provided at the campground for convenient lake access. In addition to fishing and boating, visitors can enjoy swimming, hunting, and wildlife viewing. The nearby communities of Hillsboro and Marion offer additional attractions including nationally recognized Art and Crafts shows, restaurants, and shops. The campground operates on a reservation system through Recreation.gov with some first-come, first-served sites also available.

Directions

From Marion, Kansas, take Highway 56 for about five miles. Turn right on Nighthawk, then turn right again into the park.
