About

Hillsboro Cove is a waterfront campground managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Marion Reservoir, completed in 1968. The reservoir encompasses 6,200 acres of water surrounded by 6,000 acres of public lands, providing ample opportunities for fishing, boating, and wildlife viewing. The campground sits conveniently off Highway 56 between the towns of Marion and Hillsboro. The campground offers 51 individual campsites and one group camping area with a large shelter accommodating up to 80 people. All individual sites are standard electric with tables, grills, and sun shelters. A boat ramp provides direct lake access for anglers targeting Channel Catfish, Walleye, White Bass, Wipers, and White Crappie. Shower facilities and a dump station are located within the campground loop. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov from mid-April through mid-October. First-come, first-served camping is available at the start of April and end of October. The nearby communities of Hillsboro and Marion offer restaurants, shops, and nationally recognized art and craft shows.
