About
El Dorado State Park is the largest state park in Kansas, spanning roughly 4,500 acres along the shores of 8,000-acre El Dorado Lake. Conveniently located at the edge of the Flint Hills just east of Wichita, it offers an accessible escape with nearly 1,100 campsites spread across four main areas: Boulder Bluff, Bluestem Point, Shady Creek, and Walnut River. Sites range from primitive tent camping to full utility hookups with 30/50 amp electric, water, and sewer connections.
Facilities throughout the park include modern restrooms with showers and laundry, multiple dump stations, fire rings, and picnic tables at most sites. Boulder Bluff features an equestrian campground with corrals and shoreline hitching posts. The park has two swimming beaches, six boat ramps with courtesy docks, and Shady Creek Marina for boating access. Seven trails accommodate hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders.
Beyond camping, the park offers 10 cabins including pet-friendly options, an ADA-accessible archery range and nature trail, and a large dual-stage amphitheater for events. Group camping and 11 picnic shelters are available for larger gatherings. Reservations are accepted online through campitks.com, by phone, or in person at the park office.
