About
French Creek Cove Campground sits on the quiet southwest shore of Marion Reservoir, a 6,200-acre U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake surrounded by 6,000 acres of public land. The campground caters to those seeking a peaceful setting away from the busier recreation areas, with just 20 electric sites arranged in a single loop. All sites feature 30-amp electric hookups, fire rings, and grills. Eighteen of the twenty sites include canopy shelters for shade (sites 13-14 do not). Community water hydrants are distributed throughout the campground. Two vault restrooms serve the area, and a playground provides recreation for families. A boat ramp with loading dock on the northwest portion of the campground provides direct lake access. Anglers target channel catfish, walleye, white bass, and wipers. The nearby communities of Hillsboro and Marion offer supplies, restaurants, and host nationally recognized art and craft shows.
Directions
From Newton, drive 24 miles north on KS-15, then 12 miles east on US-56. The reservoir is located between Marion and Hillsboro. French Creek Cove is on the southwest side of the lake.
