About

Cottonwood Point campground sits on the shores of Marion Reservoir in the Flint Hills region of central Kansas. Completed in 1968 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the reservoir encompasses 6,200 acres of water surrounded by 6,000 acres of public lands. The campground offers 164 individual sites with electric hookups, plus two group camping areas and two group day-use picnic shelters. Campsites are situated under a canopy of mature trees and include picnic tables and grills. The campground provides convenient lake access with two boat ramps located between sites 62 and 67. Anglers target channel catfish, walleye, white bass, and wipers in the reservoir. The Willow Walk Nature Trail and numerous other hiking and biking trails wind through the surrounding forest, where visitors commonly spot white-tailed deer, pelicans, raccoons, and various waterfowl. Swimming and hunting are also popular activities in the area. Electrical pedestals offer either 50 or 30 amp service. All 50 amp pedestals include 50/30/20 amp outlets, while 30 amp pedestals have 30/20 amp outlets. The campground is reservable through Recreation.gov. The nearby communities of Marion and Hillsboro offer restaurants, shops, and annual Art and Crafts shows.
