Special Weather Statement issued June 11 at 12:54PM CDT by NWS Grand Forks ND
Showers and thunderstorms have developed across portions of the southern Red River Valley into northwest Minnesota, tracking eastward this afternoon into portions of west-central Minnesota. Conditions are favorable for funnel clouds with any thunderstorm that develops. These types of funnel clouds are usually short lived, however, they can and occasionally do touch the ground and cause minor damage. Therefore, if you see a funnel cloud, take cover immediately.
About
Maplewood State Park's Equestrian Campground serves horse enthusiasts with 24 dedicated sites nestled in one of Minnesota's most scenic glacial moraine landscapes. The park spans nearly 10,000 acres in Otter Tail County, featuring eight major lakes, rolling hills, and a transition zone where eastern hardwood forests meet western prairies. Each equestrian site is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and either a hitching rail or high line for securing horses. The campground provides centralized amenities including potable water and vault toilets, along with manure bins for waste management. Electrical hookups and showers are not available. Riders must possess a Horse Pass if over 16 years old to use the trail system. The extensive network of over 20 miles of trails winds through wooded ravines, past lakes and ponds, and across open meadows known for spring wildflower displays. Reservations are available through the Minnesota State Parks reservation system up to 120 days in advance, though some sites are held for first-come, first-served use. The campground accommodates one horse trailer or tent per site with a maximum of six people. Pets are permitted but must remain leashed at all times in camp and on trails.
Directions
