Glendalough State Park Remote Yurt And Canoe-in Camp
Open — Open year-round. Yurts and canoe-in sites are accessible by hiking, biking, or paddling. Reservations available up to one year in advance through the Minnesota DNR.
About
Glendalough State Park's remote yurt and canoe-in camping area provides a secluded backcountry experience on the southeast shore of Annie Battle Lake, a 335-acre Heritage Fishery where no motors or electronics are allowed. The area includes two yurts available year-round and three primitive tent campsites, all accessible only by canoe, hiking, or biking along the Annie Battle Lake Trail. The yurts feature wood stove heating, sleeping platforms, and basic shelter but no electricity or running water. One yurt is 16 feet in diameter and accommodates up to three people. Access is approximately 1.25 miles via the Annie Battle Lake Trail or by paddling across the lake. This car-free camping zone offers true solitude within Minnesota's transition zone between prairie and hardwood forest. Campers must pack in their own drinking water or filter from the lake. Vault toilets and firewood are provided nearby. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table. The location provides direct access to the Heritage Fishery, known for excellent sunfish, crappie, bass, and occasional walleye fishing without the noise of motors. The nearby canoe-in group camp accommodates up to 20 people and is the only such facility in Minnesota's state park system.
Directions
From Battle Lake, Minnesota, take State Highway 78 north for approximately 2 miles. Turn right onto County Road 16 and continue for about 1 mile to the park entrance. Follow park signs to the parking area. The yurts are accessible by foot, bike, or canoe from the parking area.
