Open — Open year-round. Water and shower facilities operate from May through October; during winter months, campers should bring adequate water supplies as park water systems are shut off in mid-October.

Grass Lake Campground sits on the eastern edge of Grass Lake within Maplewood State Park, one of the larger state parks in Minnesota at 9,250 acres. The campground offers 71 drive-in campsites, with 32 sites equipped with 50-amp electric hookups. Two accessible campsites are available, along with an accessible shower building. The campground serves as a basecamp for exploring eight major lakes and numerous ponds throughout the park. Grass Lake itself is popular with panfish anglers. The park straddles the transition zone between western prairies and eastern hardwood forests, creating diverse wildlife viewing opportunities with 150 bird species and 50 mammal species. Twenty-seven miles of hiking trails connect throughout the park, with some trails linking directly to the campground. Maplewood's landscape is characterized by the Leaf Hills region, with hills that can change elevation by 300 feet within a mile. The park's signature maple, basswood, and oak forests create stunning fall color displays. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. The campground remains open year-round, though water and shower facilities are only operational from May through October.

Directions

From Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, head east on State Highway 108 for approximately 7 miles. Turn left onto Beers Lake Road and continue for about 1 mile to reach the campground entrance.
