About
Main Day Use Area serves as a primary access point for the Eau Galle Lake Recreation Area, a 150-acre impoundment managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The lake is fed by the 35-mile Eau Galle River and surrounded by densely wooded hills and bluffs featuring scenic mixed hardwoods. The day use area provides facilities for family-friendly outdoor recreation in the heart of Wisconsin's natural beauty. The lake is popular for non-gasoline powered boating including canoes and kayaks. Fishing is available year-round with opportunities to catch bass, panfish, pike, and trout. The surrounding area features hiking trails that wind through lush woodlands. The lake was created as a flood control project but has become a beloved destination for outdoor recreation in Saint Croix County. Located near Spring Valley, Wisconsin, the recreation area is easily accessible from the Twin Cities metro area. Nearby attractions include Crystal Cave, Wisconsin's longest cave located about 1 mile southwest of Spring Valley, where visitors can descend over 70 feet among stalagmites and flowstone formations.
