About

Frontenac State Park Group Campground is located on the Mississippi River bluffs overlooking Lake Pepin, offering a private group camping experience for up to 35 people. The site features two pavilions, several fire pits, water access, and pit toilets, situated in the back of the main campground for added privacy. Frontenac State Park is renowned as one of the best birdwatching destinations in the country, with over 260 species recorded. The park's diverse habitats including bluffland, prairie, and floodplain forest make it particularly exceptional during spring and fall migrations. The campground provides access to 14.2 miles of hiking trails, including routes along the bluffs with scenic overlooks of Lake Pepin. The group campground operates year-round, making it suitable for winter camping groups as well as warmer season gatherings. During winter months, water systems at flush toilets and showers are closed, but the group site's pit toilets remain available. A Minnesota State Park permit is required in addition to camping fees for all visitors.
