About
Willow River State Park lies in northwest Wisconsin just east of Hudson, encompassing 2,800 acres of diverse terrain including prairie remnants, forested bluffs, and the dramatic Willow River Gorge. The park's centerpiece is Willow Falls, a stunning cascade viewable from multiple overlooks along well-maintained hiking trails. Little Falls Lake provides opportunities for swimming, fishing (recently restocked with bass and panfish), and non-motorized boating. The campground occupies the southern shore of Little Falls Lake across three distinct loops. The 300 Campground offers 70 sites with flush toilets and showers, while the 100 Campground provides 50 sites that can accommodate everything from tents to large RVs in a more open setting with fewer mature trees. The 200 Campground serves as the off-season camping area. All designated sites include fire rings and picnic tables. Electric hookups are available at many sites across the campground. A dump station, drinking water, and a campground host are available during the main season. The park maintains over 26 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking, plus a nature center for educational programming. A group camp with four separate reservable areas accommodates larger parties. Firewood is available for purchase from the park office and campground hosts. Visitors should note that a hazard tree removal project is currently underway throughout campgrounds and trails due to storm damage, Oak Wilt, and Emerald Ash Borer infestations.
