About
Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site preserves the Texas Hill Country landscape that shaped the 36th President of the United States. The park encompasses over 700 acres along the Pedernales River near Stonewall, offering free admission year-round. The centerpiece is the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm, where costumed interpreters demonstrate daily life on a 1918 German-Texan farmstead. A 1.2-mile nature trail winds through the property, passing herds of bison and Texas longhorns, seasonal wildflowers, creeks, and historic structures. The park also features fishing access on the Pedernales River, tennis courts, a baseball field, and a seasonal swimming pool. This park does not offer traditional individual camping. Group facilities include a 70-person dining hall with full kitchen ($175/day), a 250-seat amphitheater ($25/day), and the Resource Education Center (Scout Hut) which accommodates 24 people at $25/night. The Scout Hut is the only overnight option and is restricted to youth groups. Day-use areas with picnic facilities are available to all visitors.
