The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Red Flag Warning for thunderstorms and strong outflow winds, which is in effect from 1 PM to 10 PM PDT Thursday. * Affected Area...Fire Weather Zone 420 Northern Sierra Front including Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Southern Washoe, Western Lyon, and Far Southern Lassen Counties, Fire Weather Zone 421 Southern Sierra Front including Alpine, Northern Mono, Southern Lyon, and Western Mineral Counties. * Thunderstorms...A mix of wet and dry thunderstorms Thursday afternoon. There is some uncertainty in thunderstorm coverage, but isolated dry lightning will be possible. * Outflow Winds...Gusty and erratic thunderstorm outflow winds, even well away from rain cores. Gusts to around 50 mph possible. * Impacts...Lightning can create new fire starts and may combine with strong outflow winds to cause a fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them.

Lower Twin Lakes Campground is located 10 miles from Bridgeport, California at an elevation of 7,000 feet in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. Massive Jeffrey pines tower over the 15 campsites, providing partial shade among aspens, sagebrush, and summer wildflowers. Robinson Creek flows adjacent to the campground, offering excellent rainbow trout fishing accessible directly from camp. The campground features a mix of standard nonelectric sites, one RV-designated site, one tent-only site, and three walk-to sites. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and food storage locker (required in this bear country). Amenities include flush toilets, potable drinking water, and trash collection. Roads and parking spurs are paved. Firewood is available for purchase from the campground host. Upper and Lower Twin Lakes are within walking distance, featuring beautiful mountain scenery, boating, canoeing, and fishing for Kokanee salmon and rainbow and brown trout. A public boat ramp and beach are half a mile away. The rugged Hoover Wilderness Area can be accessed from Twin Lakes, offering additional hiking and horseback riding trails including the popular Robinson Creek Trail.
Directions
From Highway 395 in Bridgeport, turn south onto Twin Lakes Road and travel approximately 11 miles. Turn left onto South Twin Road and travel about half a mile across the bridge to the campground on the right.
