About

Green Creek Group Campground is a reservable group facility in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, located at 7,500 feet elevation about 12 miles west of Bridgeport, California. The campground offers two group sites tucked between Green Creek and a rocky outcropping, shaded by towering Jeffrey pines with aspens, juniper, and sagebrush filling the landscape. Green Creek provides accessible rainbow trout fishing directly from the campground. The Green Creek Trail departs just outside the entrance and climbs to Green Lake and East Lake, where rugged peaks surround large alpine lakes offering excellent backcountry fishing. Each group site includes picnic tables, a fire ring with grill, and bear-proof food storage lockers. The campground operates seasonally from late April through early October, weather permitting. There is no potable water; campers must bring their own supply. Access requires 9 miles of narrow dirt road from Highway 395, limiting suitability for large RVs. Dogs are allowed on leash. Active food storage orders are in effect due to black bear activity.

Directions

From Bridgeport, California, take Highway 395 south approximately 4-5 miles. Turn west on Green Creek Road (Forest Road 142) and follow the narrow dirt road for about 9-11 miles to the campground, located just past the trailhead parking.
