About

Lower Lee Vining Campground is a popular first-come, first-served campground located at 7,300 feet elevation in Inyo National Forest along Lee Vining Creek. Situated on scenic Highway 120 approximately two miles west of Highway 395, the campground serves as an excellent base for exploring Yosemite National Park's eastern entrance, just ten minutes away. The campground offers 51 sites nestled among aspen and pine trees, providing a peaceful setting with the sounds of the creek nearby. This is a primitive campground without drinking water, so visitors must bring adequate water supplies for their stay. Vault toilets serve the campground. Each site is equipped with a bear locker (48" x 30" x 36"), picnic table, and fire pit. Due to active bear activity in the area, use of bear boxes is mandatory for all food storage. Sites can accommodate vehicles up to approximately 30 feet and allow a maximum of 6 people and 2 vehicles per site. A 14-day stay limit applies. The campground's location along the Tioga Pass corridor makes it a convenient alternative when Yosemite campgrounds are full. Nearby attractions include Mono Lake, the Mono Basin Scenic Area, and access to high-country hiking and fishing. The campground operates seasonally, typically from May through late October or early November, depending on snow conditions and Highway 120 access.

Directions
