Moraine Campground
Currently closed for the winter season. The campground typically reopens in late spring or early summer once snow clears, with exact dates dependent on snowpack conditions.
About
Moraine Campground serves as an overflow facility for the Lee Vining Canyon area within the Inyo National Forest, positioned along the Highway 120 corridor leading to Tioga Pass and Yosemite National Park. At 7,350 feet elevation, the campground offers 25 sites designed to accommodate the heavy visitation this gateway area receives during summer months. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables, and bear boxes at each site. Bear boxes are mandatory for food storage in this active bear area. No potable water is available on-site, requiring campers to bring all drinking water. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations accepted. Due to its high elevation location, the campground operates seasonally, closing for winter and typically reopening once snow clears in late spring or early summer. Dogs are permitted but must remain leashed in all developed recreation areas.
Directions
From Highway 395, travel approximately 2.5 miles west on Highway 120 into Lee Vining Canyon.
