About

Warren Fork Trailhead Campground is a free, primitive walk-in camping area positioned along Highway 120 (Tioga Pass Road) at approximately 9,000 feet elevation, about one mile east of Ellery Lake. The campground sits at the base of the Warren Fork Trail, which enters the Hoover Wilderness and follows Warren Fork of Lee Vining Creek for 1.5 miles through a scenic canyon between Tioga Peak and Lee Vining Peak to a high meadow. This is a basic trailhead camping area designed for one-night stays, primarily serving backpackers, peak baggers, and hikers accessing the Hoover Wilderness. The campground is located at the big hairpin bend in Highway 120, near the 9,000-foot elevation marker, with limited roadside parking available off the edge of the pavement. An old Forest Service gate blocks a dirt road at the site. Due to its high elevation location on Tioga Pass Road, the campground is only accessible during summer months when Highway 120 is open. The road typically closes in early to mid-November and remains closed through winter, not reopening until late May or early June depending on snow conditions. No services or amenities are provided at this primitive camping area.

Directions

From Highway 395 at Lee Vining, take Highway 120 west toward Yosemite. The trailhead is approximately one mile east of Ellery Lake outlet at the large hairpin bend in the road near the 9,000-foot elevation marker. Limited roadside parking is available off the edge of the pavement on the north side of the highway.
