About
Love Park is a day-use recreation area on the southeastern shore of Bardwell Lake, less than an hour south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area in north-central Texas. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the 40-acre park provides excellent access to what many local fishermen consider one of the best kept fishing secrets in the state. Bass fishermen seldom leave empty-handed, crappie fishing is moderate, and catfish are usually excellent. The park features a four-lane boat ramp, vault toilets, and 21 picnic sites including one reservable group pavilion that can accommodate up to 200 people. A marina with fishing piers is nearby, including two enclosed piers available for a small fee. The area is grassy and partially forested, with bright bluebonnets and other wildflowers surrounding the lakeshore each spring. Important: This is a day-use area only. No overnight camping is permitted. The park gates are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, with a night exit available for boaters returning after dark.
