About
Liberty Hill Park is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campground situated on the southern shore of Navarro Mills Lake in Navarro County, Texas. The facility offers approximately 100 campsites, most with water and electric hookups (30 or 50 amp service), and several sites include sewer connections. Five screened shelters with sinks are also available for reservation. Recreation opportunities abound at this lakeside destination. Two multi-lane boat ramps and a fishing pier provide excellent access to the lake, which holds the current Texas state record for white crappie. Anglers also target channel catfish, yellow catfish, and hybrid striped bass. A designated swim beach operates April 1 through September 30 for day users, while registered campers can swim year-round. No lifeguard is on duty, but life jackets are available to borrow from the gatehouse. The area around Navarro Mills Lake is renowned for spring wildflower displays, with bluebonnets, paintbrushes, and other native blooms transforming the landscape. Wildlife including white-tailed deer, coyotes, foxes, bobcats, and numerous bird species frequent the diverse habitats surrounding the lake.
Directions
From Waco or Corsicana, take State Highway 31 to Dawson, turn north onto FM 709 and travel about 4 miles to the park entrance. If coming from Waco, pass the first FM 709 intersection and proceed into Dawson to turn left at the second FM 709 intersection. Do not attempt to cross the dam as that road is closed to the public.
