About

Oak Park is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campground situated on the northeastern shore of Navarro Mills Lake, about 3 miles east of Dawson, Texas. The facility offers 48 individual campsites with water and 30-amp electric hookups, plus one group shelter accommodating up to 125 people. Most sites are heavily shaded and feature paved back-in driveways, metal fire rings with cooking grills, and concrete picnic tables with metal roof covers. The campground provides excellent lake access with a boat ramp, fishing pier, and designated swimming beach with a playground. Navarro Mills Lake holds the Texas state record for white crappie, making it a prime destination for anglers. Birding is popular year-round, with sightings of great blue herons, hawks, various songbirds, and occasional bald eagles. The surrounding area showcases spectacular wildflower displays in spring, with bluebonnets, paintbrushes, and other native flowers transforming the landscape. Wildlife including white-tailed deer, coyotes, foxes, bobcats, and armadillos inhabit the diverse habitat around the lake.
