About

High View Park is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campground situated on a peninsula extending into Bardwell Lake, approximately one hour south of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The 39 individual campsites offer water and electric hookups in both 30-amp and 50-amp configurations, with paved or gravel back-in driveways. The park provides public restrooms with showers, a dump station, and a reservable group picnic pavilion accommodating up to 50 people. Bardwell Lake is considered one of the best-kept fishing secrets in north-central Texas. Bass fishing is particularly productive, with solid crappie and excellent catfish opportunities. A four-lane boat ramp and courtesy dock provide easy lake access. The grounds are grassy and partially forested with a pleasant mix of shade and sun. Spring brings bluebonnets and wildflowers along the lakeshore. Reservations are required and available through Recreation.gov. The maximum stay is 14 days within any 30-day period. Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out at 2:00 PM. The entrance station operates from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily. Note that converters or "dog bones" between 30-amp and 50-amp services are not permitted.

Directions

From Ennis, Texas: From Interstate 45, exit onto U.S. Highway 287 Bypass (Exit #247). Travel 4.5 miles and exit at the Bardwell Lake exit sign. Turn left onto Highway 34 and go 2.5 miles southwest. After crossing the Bardwell Lake bridge, take the first left onto High View Park Road. Travel 0.2 miles to the High View Park entrance station.
