About

High View Park is located on a long peninsula extending into the western shore of Bardwell Lake, less than an hour south of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in north-central Texas. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the campground provides a mix of shaded and sunny camping areas with grassy terrain and partial tree cover. All campsites include electric and water hookups, but no sewer connections are available. Bardwell Lake is considered one of Texas's best-kept secrets for fishing. Bass anglers rarely leave empty-handed, crappie fishing is moderate, and catfish are typically excellent. The lake's cool, blue water provides a refreshing escape from Texas heat, while bluebonnets and wildflowers bloom around the lakeshore each spring. The park offers favorable fish and wildlife habitat, with opportunities for both fishing and hunting. All camping at High View is reservation-only through Recreation.gov. The park accepts card payments only. A $5 day use fee covers boat ramp access, picnic sites, showers, fishing, and dump station use. The campground enforces a 14-day stay limit within any consecutive 30-day period per water resource project. With Dallas and Fort Worth nearby, visitors have access to numerous cultural and historical attractions.
