About

Oak Park Day Use is a seasonal day-use facility located on the northeastern shore of Navarro Mills Lake in central Texas. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this area provides a designated swimming beach and picnic facilities for visitors from April through September. Open daily from 10:00am until sunset during the operating season, the facility offers restrooms and picnic tables with views of the lake. The lake area is particularly popular during spring when native wildflowers including bluebonnets and paintbrushes transform the landscape. Located within easy reach of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, the facility provides a convenient escape for city dwellers seeking outdoor recreation. The surrounding area supports diverse wildlife including white-tailed deer, rabbits, foxes, raccoons, and various bird species. The lake's varied habitat attracts songbirds, waterfowl, great blue herons, and occasionally bald eagles, making it a year-round destination for nature observation when the lake is accessible.
