About

Located in the backcountry of Payette National Forest in Adams County, Idaho, this dispersed camping area provides a remote camping experience near Lost Valley Reservoir. The area features multiple primitive campsites scattered along the reservoir shores and surrounding forest roads, offering solitude and access to fishing and wildlife viewing opportunities. As dispersed camping, the area provides minimal amenities. Vault toilets (outhouses) are scattered around the lake, but campers should bring their own water and pack out all trash. The terrain and access roads limit suitability for large RVs, making this area better suited for tent camping, truck campers, and smaller trailers. The Lost Creek Interpretive Site on the north end of the reservoir offers excellent bird watching. The Payette National Forest enforces a 14-day stay limit within any 30-day period. After 14 days, campers must relocate at least 5 miles from their original site. A portion of the Lost Valley area near NFS Road #50089 is under a special closure order through 2030 to protect threatened species habitat, with camping allowed only according to posted instructions in that zone.
