Long Branch State Park Campground sits along the picturesque 2,430-acre Long Branch Lake in Macon County, offering 66 reservable sites with both basic and electric hookups, including some 50-amp sites. The campground features several walk-in tent sites and five boat-in campsites equipped with fire rings, lantern posts, and picnic tables. Modern amenities include showers, a dump station, and potable water year-round via a frost-free spigot during off-season months. The park provides excellent water recreation opportunities with three boat ramps accessing the sprawling lake, known for quality bass fishing along with crappie, walleye, and catfish. A swimming beach and day-use area appeal to families, while the marina store offers supplies and boat slips. The campground serves as a base for exploring trails through the Chariton River Hills Natural Area, where hikers can observe preserved savanna and prairie remnants featuring colorful wildflowers and diverse bird species including red-headed woodpeckers, brown thrashers, and indigo buntings. The campground operates year-round with reservations available up to 12 months in advance through the Missouri State Parks system. A firewood vending machine is located near the entrance. Camping is limited to 15 days within any 30-consecutive-day period.
