About

Thousand Hills State Park campground is nestled along the woody shores of Forest Lake in Adair County, northeast Missouri. The park's cool waters and broad savannas evoke the natural heritage of northern Missouri's pre-settlement landscape. Two campgrounds provide options for different camping styles, with Campground 1 offering basic, electric (including 50-amp), and family sites during the April through October season, and Campground 2 providing year-round electric camping. Both campgrounds feature modern amenities including hot showers, flush restrooms, vault toilets, dump stations, and water fountains. A park store sells firewood during the camping season. Beyond camping, the park offers excellent fishing for bluegill, crappie, and walleye, a swimming beach, boating with a 90 HP limit, hiking and mountain biking trails, and a marina with boat slips. The park also features notable Native American petroglyphs with an interpretive shelter. Camping is limited to 15 days within any 30-consecutive-day period. Pets are welcome with restrictions: a maximum of two dogs per site, kept on leashes no longer than 10 feet, and excluded from buildings, swimming areas, and fishing waters. Reservations are available up to 12 months in advance through icampmo1.usedirect.com or by calling 877-ICampMO.
