Open for day-use reservations. Operating season is April through September. Hours are 6:00am to 8:30pm. This is a day-use group shelter only with no overnight camping permitted.

About

Airport Beach Shelter is a group day-use facility operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Waco Lake in McLennan County, Texas. The shelter is designed for family reunions, company picnics, and large gatherings, accommodating up to 110 guests with 47 parking spots available. The shelter includes 2 BBQ grills with electric and water hookups for day-use convenience. Nearby amenities include restrooms, a sand swimming beach for water activities, a boat ramp with courtesy dock, and a playground. The lake's main shoreline has substantial submerged timber that holds fish year-round, with catfish, crappie, largemouth and smallmouth bass, and sunfish commonly caught. This is a day-use facility only. No overnight camping is permitted. The shelter is available for reservation from 6:00am to 8:30pm. Reservations can be made up to 360 days in advance through Recreation.gov.

Directions

From I-35 take Lake Shore Drive exit (Exit 339) and drive west to Steinbeck Bend Road. Turn right and proceed to second stop light. At intersection with FM1637 (China Spring Highway) turn right. Go to next stop light (Flat Rock Road). Turn left and drive approximately 1 mile to Skeet Eason Road. Turn left and drive about a half mile. Airport Beach Park is on the second road to the right.
