Open — Open year-round with reservations available through Indiana State Parks. Flush toilets and showers available seasonally; primitive restrooms open year-round. Parke County burn ban in effect: small campfires in fire rings and propane/charcoal grills permitted but must be attended and fully extinguished.

About

Cecil M. Harden Lake, commonly known as Raccoon Lake State Recreation Area, encompasses a 2,060-acre reservoir created by damming Big Raccoon Creek for flood control. The property offers diverse camping options with 240 electric sites, 37 non-electric sites, and 35 primitive sites spread across multiple loops including Whitetail, Raccoon Run, and Lakeview campgrounds. The recreation area features modern facilities including restrooms with showers, a camp store, dump station, and five boat launch ramps. Outdoor activities include swimming at the beach, fishing from shore or pier, boating with rentals available, and hiking on five trails ranging from easy to rugged terrain. The property also includes an archery range, sports courts, playgrounds, and ten picnic shelters. Native forest and large rock outcrops line the upper creek area, providing excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Nearby Historic Mansfield Roller Mill, a preserved 1880s flour mill, offers tours and corn grinding demonstrations showcasing industrialization in turn-of-the-century Indiana. The property serves as a stop on the Central Indiana Birding Trail and provides year-round recreation just off US 36.
