...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Indiana... Illinois... Wabash River at Montezuma down to Riverton...and at Mount Carmel. .Minor flooding continues along portions of the Wabash River following heavy rainfall earlier this week...that totaled generally two to four inches across western central Indiana. Flooding will end at Montezuma and Terre Haute Saturday...with minor flooding continuing at most points downriver into next week. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Wabash River at Montezuma. * WHEN...Until early Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, Several hundred acres of bottomlands along the right bank from the mouth of Sugar Creek to northern edge of Montezuma begin to flood. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:45 PM EDT Friday the stage was 15.5 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:45 PM EDT Friday was 17.1 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage early tomorrow afternoon and continue falling and remain below flood stage. - Flood stage is 14.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Cecil M. Harden Lake, commonly known as Raccoon Lake State Recreation Area, encompasses a 2,060-acre reservoir created by damming Big Raccoon Creek for flood control. The property offers diverse camping options with 240 electric sites, 37 non-electric sites, and 35 primitive sites spread across multiple loops including Whitetail, Raccoon Run, and Lakeview campgrounds. The recreation area features modern facilities including restrooms with showers, a camp store, dump station, and five boat launch ramps. Outdoor activities include swimming at the beach, fishing from shore or pier, boating with rentals available, and hiking on five trails ranging from easy to rugged terrain. The property also includes an archery range, sports courts, playgrounds, and ten picnic shelters. Native forest and large rock outcrops line the upper creek area, providing excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Nearby Historic Mansfield Roller Mill, a preserved 1880s flour mill, offers tours and corn grinding demonstrations showcasing industrialization in turn-of-the-century Indiana. The property serves as a stop on the Central Indiana Birding Trail and provides year-round recreation just off US 36.
