About

Lily White Guard Station sits in the remote backcountry of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest in northeastern Oregon, approximately 37 miles from Baker City. The site is positioned west of Eagle Creek and northeast of Balm Creek Reservoir in the Elkhorn Range foothills. The guard station is no longer operated by the Forest Service as a rental cabin or staffed facility. The structure has been left without maintenance and is reported to be in rough condition. Unlike other historic guard stations in the Wallowa-Whitman NF such as Anthony Lakes or Antlers Guard Station, Lily White is not available for reservation. Dispersed camping is available in the general area surrounding Balm Creek Reservoir, following standard National Forest regulations. Campers interested in this remote region should be prepared for primitive conditions with no developed facilities or services.

Directions

From Baker City, travel approximately 37 miles west toward the Balm Creek Reservoir area. Take Big Creek Road to Collins Lane, which becomes USFS Road 67, then USFS Road 72. Roads are gravel and may be rough in sections.
